The 2000 Kansas state finals of National History Day will be held at the Eisenhower Center Saturday, May 6, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Some 300 middle school and senior high school students from throughout the state are competing for the right to participate in the national finals in June at the University of Maryland.
This year?s interesting theme is “Turning Points in History: People, Ideas, Events” and entries range from D-Day to DNA. Students will demonstrate their work in the form of an exhibit project, audiovisual presentation, live performance, or historical paper. The sessions are open to the public free of charge, with most events ending around noon time.
This is the 18th Anniversary of History Day finals in Kansas. The competition has been held at the Eisenhower Center since its inception in 1983. For more information call the Center at (785) 263-4751.
